Maj Gen Tejpal Singh Rawat, VSM** was commissioned in Corps of Engrs (Bengal Sappers) on 17 Dec 1983. An alumnus on National Defence Academy, Indian Military Academy and Defence Service Staff College, the officer has also attended the Higher Command Course during 2007-08.
During 35 Years of illustrious service, the Gen Officer has held varied instructional and staff appointments. His prominent appointments include Command of an Engineer Regiment, Staff Officer at UN Msn (Lebanon), Director in Military Operations Dte at IHQ of MoD (Army) and Chief Engineer of a Boarder Road Project. The Officer has been an Instructor Class ‘B’ & ‘C’ at Indian Military Academy, Instructor Class ‘A’ at Defence Services Staff College and Deputy Director General at Engineer-in-Chief’s Branch, IHQ of MoD (Army), Chief Engineer of a MES Zone and also GOC of a Sub Area. He took over as Chief Engineer Southern Command on 21 Dec 2018.
The Gen Officer was awarded the Vishist Seva Medal in Jan 2010 and ‘Bar’ to Vishist Seva Medal in Jan 2013 for his distinguished services.
A keen sportsman he has excelled in all games and was awarded the ‘Best Sportsman Trophy’, at College of Military Engineering, Pune in 1990. He is a ‘Sailor of Repute’ and has won the 14th OK Dinghy National Championship. He was a member of the CESC team which won the national team championship in 1990 and were runners up in 1989. The Gen Offr has also been awarded colours in Cricket and Sailing.
As GOC of a Sub Area, Major General Tejpal Singh Rawat, VSM** has created an extremely cordial and functional relationship with civil administration and with his insightful knowledge has brought 25 long pending defence land cases to successful conclusion while reclaiming approximately 57 acres of prime defence land. Prominent cases settled are:-
(a) An AWHO, land Mutation case pending since 29 years. Rs 35 Lacs per allotee and 52 crores plus in overall proj were the savings.
(b) Five acres of A-1 def land was reclaimed from State Road Transport Cooperation.
With extreme passivon, he has also single handedly convinced the civil administration in obtaining a number of in-principle approvals for ex-servicemen and soldiers. A ten time enhanced Ex-gratia (One Crore), and other benefits for martyrs, enhanced cash awards to gallantry/ distinguished service awardees and implementation of existing reservation, which was being denied to the ex-servicemen of the state have been achieved. His highlighting of anomalies in the Patwari selection process ensure review of State Governments orders / procedures and benefitted more than 125 ex-servicemen.
The Gen offr has set personal example in his dedication to duty and has shown tremendous maturity with boundless enthusiasm in all his endeavors.
